Here are the provisional details for the IL2019 ride on Thursday 5th September (Home to Portsmouth ferry) to Sunday 15th September. We have been trying to tie down as much detail as possible so as you can confirm your participation. The route is now 95% planned, as follows:
The first 2 days look long but we have deliberately pushed on these days as the terrain is flatter and we should be fresher enabling us to have shorter days when the terrain gets more lumpy (ie the Pyrenees). We had projected the Barcelona route cost at £800 (excluding some evening meals), which, we now believe will be closer to £850 (notwithstanding Brexit).
We have yet to hear back from some Hotels who had not yet set their 2019 rates and some sponsorship details, which will hopefully cover all of our support costs, however, until we can confirm our sponsorship details, I would also ask that you plan a contingency of £100 into your budgeting in case we have to call upon you for some additional support to cover any shortfalls on the logistic/support team costs. As per previous rides, room sharing will be required to keep costs down, if, however, you require a single room, we will endeavour to secure these at your additional expense.
We currently have 36 interested riders plus 3 who want to join us en route at Bordeaux (see attached list). With 6 support crew, we are planning for around 40-45 people in total.
